The Great Canadian Hair-Do

“I want to set an example that will never be forgotten.”

-Terry Fox, 1980

Terry’s Message
Every person can make a difference - resonated with eyewitnesses to his transformative journey and millions of supporters who continue to support his legacy.  Each year, Terry Fox supporters seek new ways to make their mark on the fight against cancer. A great way to make your mark this year is to participate in The Great Canadian Hair “Do.”

What is it?

  • Date: September 12th, 2013
  • Time: 10am-4pm
  • Location: Vari Hall

The Great Canadian Hair-Do helps raise awareness and donations for the Terry Fox Foundation.  The best part of this event is that everyone is welcomed and encouraged to participate. This is a chance as York students and staff to “do” something they don’t do every day. It is their chance to BE BRAVE TO SHAVE! Afraid to shave? We can dye your hair instead!

Participating in The Great Canadian Hair- Do will focus on increasing awareness and fundraising for cancer research.

But I Don’t Want to Change My Hair!

For those who don’t want to change their hairstyle, they will be welcomed to take part in activities such as button making, henna tattoo, games and food!  By participating, students and staff donate money to the Terry Fox Foundation, which helps raise money for cancer research.

This event is led by York is U’s Core Events Ambassador, Ernest Boakye!

Volunteer with Us!

We are always looking for volunteers to help with all events at York is U! This year we’re looking for 15-20 volunteers. This is a great opportunity to get involved with the York community, meet new people and build your co-curricular record.  Volunteers will have the opportunity to spread the word of fun things happening on campus and hand out giveaways and popcorn to the York Community!
